LUKE LOFFELMACHER - Owner & Artistic Director
Luke A. Loffelmacher is a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico born on Kirtland Air
Force Base. Luke has study and dance since the mid 80's around the USA involving
into a master teacher of Tap and street jazz style of dance. Some of his
professional work as a dancer/performer has been in commercial with Gap
products, along with a appearance on a music video with Destiny's Child. Also
featuring dance and acting roles in the 2009 movie production of Love N' Dancing
and the 2009 movie of Defective Man. Luke also joined a US tour with GX
international were he traveled the US performing over 30 venues in a four month
time period, while teaching master classes throughout the country. Most recent
work as been with Musical Theatre Southwest were Luke was been contracted as
choreographer for numerous productions such as Footloose, The Pajama Game and
Into The Woods in their 2012-2014 seasons and ending this year with Shrek The
Musical. Luke's love and passion for tap dancing gave him the vision and wisdom
to start a tap dance company back in 2010, were he is still currently the
Owner/Artistic director of the Alley Kats Tap Company leading into the 2016-2017
season and plans to stay directing until his feet can't move anymore!
DANIEL WASHINGTON - Core Level "A" Dancer
Daniel has been tap dancing since the age of 6, when he was inspired by a Michael Flatley dance show. He studied at Alwins school of the dance under Karoll Bauer and Luke Lofflemacher for 12 years in show tap and hoofing styles. He has taught beginning through advanced tap classes for 2 years, and at the age of 16, he joined the Alley Kats tap company as a dancer and improvisational soloist. 2 years later he moved to the Bay Area where he joined the Stanford university tap group, for which he now serves as the president and creative director/choreographer. In addition, he currently serves as a honorary member of the Alley Kats tap funk company.
SARAH HYDE - Core Level "A" Dancer
Sarah Hyde grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and has been dancing since age four. She grew up dancing at La Mesa Dance Academy, where she was a member of Energy in Motion Dance Company and taught children's ballet, tap, and jazz until she moved away for college. Sarah received her International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2014 and currently attends Connecticut College as a Human Development major and an Anthropology and Dance double minor. After college, she plans on attending graduate school in Hospital Administration or Public Policy and work as an advocate for children's rights. Sarah understudied her first Alley Kats' show when she was seventeen and became a member of the company a few months later. She loves having the opportunity to constantly push herself and grow as an Alley Kat and continues to fly home and perform with the company as often as she can.
JANINE O'NEILL - Core Level "A" Dancer & Company Treasurer
Janine O'Neill is a native New Mexican. born in Philadelphia, PA, her family relocated to the east mountains where Janine grew up. She began her dance career at age 3 with Sandra's School of Dance in 1992. Janine took a small hiatus from dance once starting elementary school but quickly rekindled her passion for tap by attending Fishback Studio of the Dance in 1999. Under her teachers, Kathy Fishback Anthony and Diane Gutierrez, Janine focused solely on tap for five years until a knee injury at 15 forced her to take another break from dance. During this time, she focused on another try passion, theatre. Beginning in high school, Janine became a thespian and began her studies as an actor and theatre professional graduating from the University of New Mexico with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre with an Acting Emphasis and a Minor in Early Modern European History. While in college, she was given the amazing opportunity to be cast in Musical Theatre Southwest's production of "The Producers" and had the chance to put tap shoes on again. Through strength training and determination, Janine moved past her injury and continued to dance and act in MTS shows, which was the path that led straight to Alley Kats.
Janine has been incredibly lucky to be passionate about wanting to do and be so many things and it is beyond luck that she has accomplished and continues to do all three, acting, tapping, and teaching. Janine is a 1st grade teacher at Hawthorne Elementary School, she is an active member of the Albuquerque Theatre community performing with several companies and community theaters, and she is a very proud and grateful member of Alley Kats Tap Company.
RACHEL WASHINGTON - Core Level "A" Dancer
Rachel Washington was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and has been studying dance since she was 3 years old. Although she started as a ballerina, tap dancing is her favorite style of dance. As a tap dancer she likes to combine elements of show tap and hoofing into her own style. She enjoys tap dancing to the bass guitar and creating rhythms that are an extension to the music. Currently she is a student at Willamette University and is a chemistry major with a minor in mathematics. In addition, with working with the Alley Kats Tap Company, she is also a member of the Willamette Dance Company and the Willamette Chemistry Club. Rachel strides to continue to improve as an artist and a tap dancer. She is honored to be a part of the Alley Kats family.
ANNMARIE SHEAHAN - Core Level "A" Dancer
Annmarie Laura Sheahan is a native New Mexican and an avid lover of dance. She trained in tap, jazz, ballet, and contemporary at Sandra's School of Dance from the age of six, and was a member of the studio's nationally recognized competition team, Sandra's Dance Sensations. She continued to study tap and flamenco at the University of New Mexico, where she pursued a double major in English Literature and American History, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Annmarie taught Language Arts at Highland High School for seven years, where she coached dance and cheer, and pursued a Masters degree in English Education. Now, Annmarie is the primary tap teacher at Sandra's School of Dance, where she also teaches jazz. She is currently a doctoral student at UNM studying Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies. Annmarie joined Alley Kats in 2014, and since then, has rediscovered her passion for tap and dance artistry.
MICHELLE EILAND - Core Level "B" Dancer
Michelle Eiland has studied dance since the age of three, and her love for music shortly thereafter accompanied her dance training. She also loves teaching and learning languages, and in 2010 received her B.A. in Spanish, minoring in dance. She continued on to graduate studies, receiving her M.A. in Spanish in May 2014. Michelle also participates in musical theater, and has been seen in such productions as Grease, White Christmas, and the upcoming Westside Story at Albuquerque Little Theatre. Michelle is a teacher at the Albuquerque Sign Language Academy, and unites her training with her passion for teaching, aspiring daily to foster the discovery of self-expression and identity. She plans to continue on to a Ph.D. in Performance Studies to continue developing a unity between the arts and community outreach. She is immensely thankful for the Alley Kat Tap Company and all the beauty they bring to the world.
